I stumbled upon Cambly Tutors’ ad on Craigslist. This is not your average home-based-English-teaching-job ad. Here’s the ad:

We are looking for friendly, outgoing native English speakers to practice conversational English with students via video chat. Work from your computer at home, anytime you want, as much or as little as you want. We’ll pay you for the minutes you spend talking to students. We’re looking for friendly, creative, and talkative people. No previous teaching experience necessary.

Cambly is looking for native English speakers. I don’t know if this is a major requirement. There are a few Filipinos who sound like native speakers.

Tutors who are interested are required to have a computer with a video cam. Although some students do not want to use their cams during lessons, tutors are required to have them.

Tutors get paid in minute increments. I believe the range is from 0.15 to 0.30 cents a minute which can amount to $10/hour.  Payment is sent via Paypal.

I checked reviews on Cambly, it looks legit.
